This course offers a comprehensive exploration of the intersection between climate change and children’s rights. Over three weeks, participants will gain insights into the unique ways environmental challenges impact children, the legal and policy frameworks that safeguard their rights, and actionable strategies for building climate-resilient communities. Designed for professionals, advocates, and anyone passionate about creating a sustainable future for children, this course combines case studies, data analysis, and participatory approaches to foster deep understanding and practical solutions.

Course Overview.

WEEK 1: The Impact of Climate Change on Children 

Explore how climate change disproportionately affects children, including its impacts on health, education, and overall well-being. Examine case studies and data to understand children’s unique vulnerabilities in the face of environmental challenges.

WEEK 2:
The Right to a Healthy and Sustainable Environment for Children

Delve into the legal and policy frameworks that recognize children’s right to a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment. Learn how to advocate for and implement strategies that prioritize this fundamental right in environmental decision-making.

WEEK III: Building Climate-Resilient Communities for Children

Focus on strategies to create communities that can withstand climate challenges while prioritizing children’s rights, well-being, and active involvement.

Dr. Anita Ramsak, founder of ARSIC Social Impact Consulting, brings decades of expertise to this course series. With experience working across four continents and collaborating with global organizations like UNICEF and Save the Children, Dr. Ramsak is a leading expert in the field of children;s rights. She has advised governments, authored UN child rights monitoring reports, and supported a number of programs to safeguard the rights of vulnerable children worldwide. She is based between Kenya and Indonesia, operating globally.
